Here is the email that will go out to participants and presenters tomorow.
Summer Institute participant,
My name is Doug Pagitt, I am the host of the Summer Institute.
I am excited that you are part of this inaugural event for Emergent. I am personally looking forward to the event for its content, but mostly for the time we will have to be together.
As you know Emergent is a friendship, and our time together will give an opportunity to build connections and friendship.
As you may be aware we are attempting a model of meeting that is new to all of us. So please bear with us as we all work out the details. There are great benefits from this decentralized approach, but there are some things that will be missed as well – like all the good things that come from control.
But, I am confident that the benefits will outweigh and outlast the drawbacks.
I am thrilled that we are able to host the Institute at Solomon’s Porch and for the people of our community to interact with friends from around the world (we have Institute participants from Canada and Brazil in addition to the United State). We have offered for Solomon’s Porch people to attend events so you should have a chance to meet and interact.
This email includes the base schedule, the list of offerings, and directions to our facility and a few “odds and ends”.
Children:
If you are hoping for help with your children please confirm this as soon as possible by sending an email to [email protected].
Offerings:
If you paid for the “Hold My Place Option” please go into the registration system and sign-up for your offerings as soon as possible. You will receive a refund of your $25 at the event.
If you want to add additional offerings before next week, go into the system and do so.
If you decide you would like to attend additional offerings during the week that is fine, check-in at the information table and let us know. You will be able to pay at that time with a check made payable to Emergent or we will register you through the system.
There is a daily list of offerings at the end of this email.
Food:
Thanks to the support of Fuller Seminary, Zondervan, Baker, Josey-Bass Publishers, Youth Specialties, and ILIFF we will have a light breakfast, lunch and snacks each day at the building. You are welcome to hang around the building for the day if you like.
The building does have a wireless connection and plenty of couches to relax in.
We will create a list of dinner options each night, Wednesday night we will have cookout together, but the other nights you will be on your own or can go in groups.
Each evening there will also be some fun options available, we will give a list each day, but plan on a little “lawn bowling” on Thursday.
Daily Schedule:
8:30 AM – Walk around Lake Harriet (2.7 miles) http://www.minneapolisparks.org/default.asp?PageID=4&parkid=266
9:00 AM – Breakfast opens
12:00 PM – Lunch opens
6:30 PM – Dinner Options – list each day of fun, good places.

If you have something to add to the daily rhythm please bring it. This event should build as the week progresses.
Recordings:
If you want to record the offerings you are part of check with the host and the other participants to see if it is ok with them. If it is and you want to podcast the recording please let me, Doug, know so that we can link others to it. If you record it and want me to podcast it, just burn it on a disk and give it to me.
