We received the following from our friend Christine Sine at Mustard Seed Associates. If any of you all can help...
We need help
Mustard Seed Associates is urgently in need of a new administrative assistant to work at our office in Seattle. We need a detail person who can help coordinate MSA activities and assist with MSA publications. This position provides a unique opportunity to interact with Christian leaders from around the world. We would consider both part time and full time applicants. The person holding this position would need to raise their own support or be able to work as a volunteer. If you are interested please email us or give a call at 206 524 2111. We would appreciate it if you would circulate this to your friends and email contacts.
Blessings, Christine Sine

Yes, the Gathering is on for this year. October 9-12, Glorieta New Mexico.
We've been waiting for the roll-out of the new emergentvillage.com site August 1 to open the free registration, but we know that some folks need to start making arrangements.
The event is free of program charge. There is a $35 charge to be involved in the breakfast and lunch communal meals - this is the only way to eat this year, for at this point the dinning hall will not be open. Dinners are eaten at restaurants in Santa Fe, but some people make arrangements through this blog to buy their own dinner food and eat at the conference center.
You will pay for and make your own housing arrangements with Glorieta. There is a choice of apartments and hotel-style rooms. Tell them that you are part of the Emergent Gathering.
This event is a highlight for many of us. It is, in many ways, the heartbeat of Emergent - friendly, conversational, free-form, and meaningful.
If you have any interest in participating I would strongly encourage you to give it a try.
Email Doug Pagitt with any questions.
The Emergent Gathering
October 9-12, 2006
Glorieta Conference Center - Santa Fe, New Mexico
A Gathering of those pursuing advanced conversations and deepening relationships within Emergent Village.
This Gathering is not a “conference” of experts presenting to the waiting masses, rather it is a dialog among those involved with Emergent.
Emergent seeks to be a Generative Friendship that creates spaces and places of new interactions, new hopes, new thinking, and new ways of being in the world.
Feel and Format:
This event is not best compared to a “conference” but rather as a blend of a Family reunion, Art Festival, and “Senior Seminar”. There will be relational connections, creativity and sharing of advanced ideas.
The Gathering is created by and for the participants. A group of people have worked to create an atmosphere and structure in which those involved can make the event work. By participating in the Gathering you are committing not only to attend but to contribute to the creation and refining of the event.
Artist, musicians, thinkers and lovers of life are all invited to create this time into what they desire. Materials will be provided for collective art initiatives. Space will be provided for musicians create. Mountains and trails are ample for outdoor imagination. Rooms will be provided for discussion and idea exchange.
There will be few if any large group meetings. Rooms and schedules will be provided for participants to invite others to hosted discussions on topics of their choice. These discussions will take on the feel of the host, with some being well thought through and others being free-form. A list of conversations is already coming together and will soon be available at www.emergentvillage.com
Guided Conversations:
Each day will offer conversations hosted by participants on a range of topics. Each participant is invited to host a conversation and offerings will be briefly explained each day at the morning “Check-in” meeting.
A Reflection of Normal Life:
Entire communities of faith are invited.
There is a hope that this event will closely reflect normal life and not become some ministry event. We are seeking to find new ways of living integrated lives of family, faith, church and the world.
We are hoping that our time together will closely reflect the regular rhythm of life. Children and families will be in abundance. Food will be eaten. Adults and children will play. God will be worshiped. People will encourage, bless and support one another.
Cost:
There is no program cost for the event. No one is being paid to share their ideas, and everyone is traveling at their own expense so there is no need to charge a program feel. There is a fee for the communal meals and for housing.
Housing:
Housing is handled directly with Glorietta Conference Center, http://www.lifeway.com/lwc/mainpage/0,1701,M%253D200376,00.html
and includes varied styles: Cabins, hotel rooms, and apartments. Please contact Glorieta as soon as you are ready to make plans, this will help you get the housing you desire and assists in planning on their part.
Meals:
Participants are encouraged to eat breakfast and evening meals together by paying $35 per person to a common purse. Participants will be assigned to groups based on housing and will make breakfast and lunch meals together. You will have the opportunity to sign-up for and pay for this meal option at registration. Dinners are normally eaten at local restaurants.
Registration:
In an effort to involve as many people as possible we ask that participants indicate their intention to attend by registering at www.emergentvillage.com. Housing registration through Glorieta at http://www.lifeway.com/lwc/mainpage/0,1701,M%253D200140,00.html
Schedule:
The following is a skeleton schedule for the event. Details will be added as participants generate ideas and host offering. Again, this event is created by and for the participants.

There are many ways to participate in the Emergent Village relationships local gatherings, online gatherings, through ideas, and in face to face interactions with others from around the country and around the world. In the next few months two national gatherings are being planned. I would encourage you consider being part of these events.
Gathering: October 9-12, 2006 Glorietta, New
Mexico
Over the last few years the Annual Gathering has
become a staple for many of the Emergent Village.
The size of the group - around 150; the
structure - conversations lead by the
participants, meals eaten together, freedom for
friendships to develop; the location - just
North of Santa Fe where the sun just shines
differently; the cost - free with the only
cost being housing and food (averaging around $30
per night for housing and $25 total for communal
meals, dinners are often extra), have all made this
an accessible and meaningful gathering.
Registration for The Gathering will be opening soon
so make arrangements now if oyu are planning to attend.
Soliton Sessions: August 10-12, Ventura
California
The Bridge Communities are hosting a unique and
meaningful event this August. The Soliton Sessions
are a perfect blend of hospitality, learning, and
sharing. There is no question that is one of the
best and most important events to consider
participating in each year. Go Here - http://www.solitonnetwork.org/

For me, joining the Emergent Village conversation has been a process of small steps over months and years. But I really felt a leap forward one day earlier this year, when I listened to the voices of Tony Jones and Miroslav Volf on my iPod. Even though I’d read about the Emergent Theological gathering, there was something entirely different, and more intimate, about actually hearing the voices. It brought a human warmth to a theological discussion. Since hearing that first podcast, I’ve been hooked on a weekly dose of Emergent Village in my ears.
I’m happy to report that after a two-month break, the Emergent Village Podcast is returning. This Saturday, July 1st, we’ll be re-launching the podcast, with a conversation between Tony Jones and Doug Pagitt. It’s about 30 minutes long, and if you are at all interested in where the Emergent Village conversation seems to be going, it’s well worth a listen. In the weeks to come, the podcast will be filled with the voices of Karen Ward, Dwight Friesen, and Tim Keel. Each of them offers their own perspective on the Emergent Village, the church, and what it looks like to follow Jesus. We’ll be releasing a new podcast approximately every week, on Friday night.
Here’s the link to the podcast page: http://emergent-us.typepad.com
In addition to featuring people talking on the Emergent Village Podcast, we also want to play music from the Emergent Village participants. If you know of music or musicians that you think might contribute to the conversation, please let us know at [email protected]. You can send us MP3 files, or just the contact information for a musician and/or band. We’ll follow up from there.
I believe the Emergent Village Podcast can be another voice in the conversation among friends. Please give it a listen and, if you have ideas for people who could be on the podcast, or suggestions on how to make it better, please send them to [email protected]. Here’s hoping your ears will be blessed.

As some of you aware, this past weekend there was an event called PAPAFest. Emergent Village was delighted to be a sponsor of this event, and I was equally delighted to be there as both a part of Emergent and a New Monastic community. Also representing Emergent Village were Ryan and Holly Sharp, who had just come from the EV organizing group meeting in Minnesota. There were also so many friends of Emergent there, including Darin Petersen and Shane Claiborne.
Thanks to all who support Emergent Village in a way that allows us to support others in the work of the kingdom. Although PAPAFest didn't require much financial support - like EV events most of the work was done by volunteers - the little bit we could provide helped make PAPAFest happen. It would be great for us to think about continued ways to collaborate with the PAPA people.
This festival was an amazing thing. There were so many different kinds of people represented there. We talk about Emergent Village as "a growing generative friendship among missional Christian leaders seeking to love our world in the Spirit of Jesus Christ." That attitude was definitely evident at PAPAFest. There were people from all stages of life, from different parts of the Church, all trying to figure out how to be the hands and feet of Jesus. I would love to see continued cross-pollination between these two conversations. We all have so much to learn from each other.
